In a recent share, AFF president Khiev Sameth confirmed that ASEAN is able to host World Cup 2034 successfully by its condition.

At the 34th ASEAN Summit, the leaders of the 10 countries in ASEAN zone approved the plan to host the 2034 World Cup. Accordingly, the Southeast Asian Football Federation and its member associations will formulate the scheme and submitted to FIFA in 2026.

Speaking after the ASEAN conference ended, AFF’s president Khiev Sameth appreciated the unification of countries in the region. AFF leader also affirmed that ASEAN is able to successfully organize the 2034 World Cup.

Mr. Khiev Sameth said: "We welcome the leaders of countries in Southeast Asia committing to supporting the implementation of the shared bidding package to run the World Cup 2034.

This is always our point and goal that ASEAN has the ability to organize a successful World Cup. A World Cup organized by ASEAN will create economical and sports benefits for the region, and will also strengthen solidarity between 640 million people".

To be granted the hosting duties for 2034 World Cup, Southeast Asian countries need to meet the facilities requirements. The most important thing is to own at least 12 stadiums with a capacity of over 40,000 seats.

However, Southeast Asia has only 6 qualified stadiums including Bukit Jalil (Malaysia); Shah Alam (Malaysia); Bung Karno (Indonesia); Singapore National Stadium (Singapore); Rajamangala (Thailand); My Dinh (Vietnam). Therefore, Vietnam and Asean countries need to build at least 6 other stadiums.

According to FIFA rules, the World Cup host country will be specially invited to attend the finals. However, Vietnam and the other 9 countries of ASEAN cannot attend the 2034 World Cup. Therefore, regional media raised the idea of establishing an ASEAN team with the best players to attend World Cup 2034
