Thailand’s coach Akira Nishino is preparing for a crucial match against Vietnam in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

After a disappointing loss to Malaysia, Thailand has lost its top spot in group G to Vietnam and Nishino is under pressure from both Thai fans and the FAT. Recently, FAT President Somyos Puampanmuang has said he will review the performance of Thailand coach after the Thailand vs Vietnam match.

“After the game with Vietnam, we will reevaluate Akira’s performance over the past 4 months. This is important for the FAT, the coach, the players and the fans. But it is understandable if the result is not as good as expected.”

If Thailand is beaten by Vietnam, Nishino is sure to face harsh criticism from the media, the fans and FAT.

Nishino admitted he feels pressure at a press conference on Monday.

“We were supported by our fans after the draw with Vietnam at Thammasat stadium. But now I’m under a lot of pressure to beat Vietnam at My Dinh stadium.”

Another loss by Thailand  could disqualify them from the next round.
