According to Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Indonesia beats Brazil and Peru to win the hosting right for U20 World Cup 2021.

Indonesia for the first time in history has won the hosting rights for the U20 World Cup 2021, beating out Brazil and Peru. The result was announced following a FIFA meeting on Oct 23-Oct 24, according to Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI).

The result of the FIFA discussion on Oct 23- Oct 24 showed that Indonesia overcomed Brazil and Peru to first time become the host of U20 World Cup 2021.

Indonesia, as the host, will have a spot in the finals, the third team in ASEAN to compete in the tournament. Myanmar competed in the U20 World Cup in 2015 and Vietnam in 2017.

8 countries were vying for hosting rights, including 2 ASEAN rivals: Indonesia and the Thailand-Myanmar Coalition. After Thailand’s withdrawal, Indonesia became the only ASEAN candidate. Bahrain and  Saudi Arabia-UAE Coalition also withdrew.

Notably, with the violence during the match at the first round of the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Malaysia, there were concerns about Indonesia's opportunity to compete with Brazil and Peru. However, PSSI eventually received votes from the FIFA to become the host country of the U20 World Cup 2021.
