VFF fined nearly 1 billion VND as fans fired flares in 2020 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers

Thể Thao 247 - In 2020 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers Group K, VFF and the organizers failed to prevent fans from firing flares at My Dinh Stadium, leading to being fined nearly 1 billion VND.

Specifically, AFC gave out a 13.750 USD sentence to VFF for each a flare being fired in the match U23 Vietnam facing U23 Indonesia, a 25.750 USD sentence for 3 flares along with a bottle of water being thrown onto the field in the match U23 Vietnam encountering U23 Thailand.

Summarily, AFC ordered VFF to pay a 39.500 USD penalty for failing to ensure safety regulations when organizing AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers.

AFC’s announcement emphasized that this was the fourth time VFF having such chaos in the match within continental level.

If such kind of situation recurs, AFC will order a harder sentence form including being forced to be failed the game is clearly possible.

Back to the time of 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, Malaysia was fined losing 0 – 3 to Saudi Arabia as having flares interrupting the match.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was also ordered the same amount Vietnam’s. Besides, they had to play a match without audiences.
