Hanoi FC’s 3-2 win over Altyn Asyr means Vietnamese clubs are now having chance to get a ‘direct ticket’ to AFC Champions League.

Defeating Altyn Asyr at Hang Day match (20 August), Hanoi Club is largely advantageous ahead of AFC Cup return leg semi-final.

Vietnamese clubs, then, likely benefit from this sweet result as the AFC bases on national league’s representatives for rankings and AFC Champions League official eligibility.

According to Footy Ranking, Vietnam overtook Malaysia, slightly behind Philippines on the rankings. Vietnam will stay at 7th position, just behind Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Australia and the Philippines.

That was absolutely a big achievement of Vietnamese clubs. Back to March 2019, Vietnam ranked 10th with only 11,333 points, behind Malaysia with a difference of 4000 points. Then, hitting new heights thanks to Hanoi FC and Becamex Binh Duong’s impressive contributions, Vietnamese clubs officially shorten their path to AFC Champions League.

Being inside the Top 6, Vietnam can both keep a position straight to AFC Champions League group and raise their status in Asian arena.
